Here is a little more about me!
To the right is a picture from the night of my senior recital. From left to right is my second oldest brother Ethan, my Aunt Denise, my mom Delores, me, my dad Robert, my Grandma Darlene, my youngest brother Isaiah, and my second youngest brother Jacob.
I have grown up as the only girl in my family and I have four brothers, two older and two younger. The five of us have always been very close. Even with the fighting and arguments that may have occurred over the years we have always been there for one another. I have lived in five states, including Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, and finally Texas. As you can see, I am a true southerner.
Some of my hobbies outside of music include reading, scrap booking, boating, fishing, and camping. I also enjoy going to the movies and hanging out with friends. My friends and family keep my life interesting and they are always there to support me in everything I pursue. My favorite color is lavender (but really any shade of purple will do) and my favorite Disney movie as a child was Pocahontas. I am a very independent and stubborn person, which I get honestly seeing how my whole family is the exact same way. I am also work hard and do the very best at everything I pursue. My philosophy is why allow yourself to produce work that is anything less than your best? Until this past fall, I was the tallest female cousin on my mom's side of the family when one of my younger cousin's hit a growth spurt. However, on my dad's side of the family all three of us girls are the same height!
I am currently in my senior year at Tarleton State University studying Music education. I completed my junior recital on October 31, 2013 and my senior recital on March 26, 2014. I was a member of The Sound and The Fury Marching band my freshman and softmore years. I was also a member of the Wind Ensemble during the spring semester of my freshman year and the Symphonic band during the spring of my softmore year. I was a member of the University Singers choir for my first three years at Tarleton and I have been a member of the Women's Ensemble since my softmore year. This year I have been also been a member of the Chamber Choir. Throughout my college career I have received scholarships for band, choir, and academics as well as making the Dean's List multiple times. As a member of University Singers and Chamber Choir, I have had the privilege of singing with the Cross Timbers Civic Chorale and the Fort Worth Symphony at Tarleton's Annual Masterwork's Concert.
When I graduate I plan to pursue a master's degree in music production/business, or songwriting. I would like to possibly get a job either at a church or school teaching choir or general music classes. Music is a part of who I am and it has made a huge impact upon my life. I did not choose music, music chose me and I would not have it any other way.
